Let me start out by saying I have never had anything offensive on my blog--probably because not many people read this blog--but I have seen comments on other blogs and just want to take this opportunity to rant about 'blog etiquette'. I am not expert on the subject, but I found some helpful info on the subject, especially at Cafe Mama and want to add my two-cents.
I think most people who have blogs centered around their family with the goal of keeping in touch with others enjoy comments posted on the blog. Here are some general rules I believe are important when commenting:
#1 Keep your comments related to the posted subject matter
#2 Don't reveal information the blogger is attempting to keep private
#3 Feel free to link back to your blog (or any other site) IF it is relevant
#4 DO NOT use the comment section to promote your business endeavors unless the blogger has said specifically "I need info on ___"
Okay, I'm done ranting. Thanks for reading and PLEASE leave me some comments on basic blogging etiquette according to YOU.
Amen Sista, Preach on
ReplyDeleteI completely agree! My biggest pet peeve is solicitation comments! Blogs should be about connecting to friends and families through comments and not about advertising. I love it that there are women who have made a career out of blogging and make money doing it, but for the rest of us, comments should be personal and not business! Hopefully others will read and learn! Annie
