Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.

{more chaos} Mean Mom on the prowl

It is official...I AM NEVER TAKING LULU TO COSTCO AGAIN!

Why?  Because I am a mean mom.
A few months ago Lulu thought it would be fun to have her stroller and doll tag along on a trip to Costco.  She looked cute strolling around with her tiny stroller while other shoppers had gigantic shopping carts.  She looked so cute many patrons commented on her cuteness--BAD IDEA!  Now whenever I take Lulu to Costco she wants to take her stroller and doll(s) along and it is getting really annoying.  We usually try and make Costco runs while she is at preschool, but today I had left a couple things until the last minute and we had to make a trip today.  So, after an emotionally exhausting morning (too many stories, too little time), we headed off to Costco.  I always hope against all hope that she will forget about her stroller in the trunk, but that has never actually happened.  We headed off into the store and all around with one large shopping cart and one tiny stroller.
I'm sure you are wondering why this was/is so annoying to me.  Like I said before, "I am a mean mom."  The square footage I am responsible for at the store doubles when she has her stroller, and I never know which way her little wheels are going to turn.  Into a large pallet of cereal, hitting against my heels, right in front of an unsuspecting customer, etc.  This afternoon it was busy at my local Costco and Lulu seemed to be in everyone's way--no one commented on her cuteness today.  It probably wasn't too bad, but my patience was running low and I was annoyed.
So after feeling bad for thinking annoying thoughts and realizing I am sometimes a mean mom, we all went to the park and had fun.  Squiggles even got to go down a big slide with her brother and sister and by herself!  Buddy practiced and practiced until he could go across the monkey bars by himself.  And Lulu was a great helper.
All's well that ends well, but it will be a long time before I venture taking Lulu to Costco again!

  1. I completely understand. Grocery shopping is the very worst mom errand in the whole world. I've even been tempted to take my kids to Smiths Marketplace and leave them in the play place they have there as a childcare but I can't bring myself to do it. Every time I leave, I am just surprised that we aren't heading to the hospital to treat a soup can concussion caused by the fighting between the two of them. And I always feel like a mean mom at the end of it and decide that we aren't buying food from now on and we'll just eat take out and drive thru for the rest of our lives.
